
The 1.5 acre (0.6ha) apiary at Blackhorse was once a tree nursery, now divided into several sections, and contains at least one of every type of hive commonly used in Britain. Besides its function for demonstrations, teaching and learning, the apiary provides for queen rearing, and equipment or technique trials.
