I keep changing my mind, but here's one from Canada for when they can't use those rather un-neighbourly bee-blowers. Those spare floors you have cleaned up, you know the ones you swapped over in the spring, needn't lie idle. When you want to clear the supers to begin extracting take then along to the apiary and set them down next to the hive. Put a clearer board fitted with Porter bee escapes on top. Yup, on the floor. Lift off any unfinished supers and set them to one side on the roof, and then put all the supers you are taking on top of the clearer board and floor. Put all the other supers back and close up the hive. Put a roof or board on top of your stack of supers to prevent it from being robbed. Robbers can't get in through the Porters, but all the inmates can make an orderly exit and rejoin the main colony. You can then collect your supers and clearer boards without having to open the colony again, and you didn't have to lift those he...avy supers back on and off the main stack.
